French Actor Patrick Bruel shares his thoughts with Variety on making his TV debut in spy thriller State of Alert co-created and co-written by Dark Riviera’s David Dusa among others.
Bruel talks about the spy thriller State of Alert co-created and co-written by Dark Riviera’s David Dusa, together with Leora Kamenetzky (False Flag, Fauda) and Negar Djavadi (Jacqueline Sauvage, Mon Ange), who is also the main writer of the series.
“Playing a secret agent in an international thriller was fun and it’s the kind of role that made me dream when I was a kid and would watch movies,” says Bruel. “I felt very lucky to be offered this part of Zeey Abadi because there is an emotional layer and a depth that makes him more than a stereotypical action hero and we can see him evolving through his relationship with (the French cop), Fleur.”
Coming to spotlight in the 1990s, Bruel has recorded 11 solo albums, which he still performs at fully packed live concerts, and he also has an envious acting career, having starred in more than 7 films, including What’s in the Name, for which he got a Cesar nomination.
State of Alert is produced by French production company Elephant International and Israel-based producer and distributor Keshet International for TF1.
