Dark Riviera Games is looking for a Senior Game Designer to drive the conception, prototyping, iteration and implementation of the mechanics, loops, features and systems of an unannounced narrative RPG.

Who we are


Dark Riviera is an intellectual property creation company founded by A-list graphic novelist Sylvain Runberg, international TV and film writer-director David Dusa, Studiocanal China founder, ex-CEO and film & TV producer Emilie Blézat, and backed by video game producer and investor Robert Bäckström.

 

Dark Riviera Games, our new independent game development studio, produces narrative-led game experiences based on Dark Riviera’s extensive slate of thought-provoking IP’s.


We are currently forming a talented and experienced team to deliver truly captivating game experiences with narratives from A-list storytellers and worldbuilders. With an initial focus on narrative-driven RPG’s, our games will allow a global audience to fully immerse and invest in our unique stories, worlds and characters.

The heart of the matter


We are looking for a Senior Game Designer to drive the conception, prototyping, iteration and implementation of the mechanics, loops, features and systems of an unannounced narrative RPG. You will collaborate closely with creative, production, art and engineering to deliver on our collective vision for the game, and be an anchor and inspiration to fellow designers.


In a new and fast growing studio, you will be presented with plenty of opportunities to grow within and beyond your craft.

 


The tasks at hand


  • Work together with the IP creators to define the player experience, core mechanics and loop from early narrative goals and concepts

  • Design game systems and features, on paper and in-engine, and tune them for specific goals

  • Holistically drive quality through regular design reviews and alignment across all disciplines

  • Contribute to the creation and improvement of the team’s development processes and tools

  • Participate to the hiring, development and mentoring of designers to cover all key project needs

 


What we are looking for


  • 5+ years experience in game design, from creation through implementation, with at least 2 released PC or console games. Experience with level and world design is a plus (not essential)

  • Experience in editing and scripting in Unreal Engine or similar

  • Vast knowledge of games, old and new. Interest or experience with RPG’s is a plus (not essential)

  • Creative problem solver with a sharp judgment and solid design practices

  • Comfortable rapidly iterating or changing course to meet evolving requirements and the right balance of innovation vs. project constraints

  • Clear and inspiring communication, and an always constructive feedback, in written and verbal English

  • Eager to build high-performing and healthy teams, collaborations and partnerships

 


What we offer


This is a full-time and permanent position, onsite at our studio in Stockholm (Sweden) or hybrid.
